Spartan

"Spartan" was conceived after a random conversation with David, an existing customer, who decided he wanted a big block Guzzi Cafe Racer to keep his BM Scrambler "Heavy Metal", that we built for him, company.

It was quickly decided that the styling and colours had to traditional Cafe Racer, but with some modern upgrades.

The '76 850 T3 we already had was the donor bike and to give the engine more 'punch', a new 1000cc top end with Nikasil barrels and high comp. pistons was fitted along with custom inlet tracts, alloy carb bellmouths and custom stainless headers with short reverse cone mega mufflers.

A deep sump conversion was added and the sparks were upgraded with electronic ignition and a much smaller, high power twin coil pack. A new, upraded starter motor ensures good starting.

Motogadget push button switches, M Unit and M Button along with a new smaller custom wiring loom tidy everything up, and with the single Koso combined speedo/tacho unit and Oberon bar end LED indicators and mirror, the minimalist theme was kept.

A gorgeous 'Imola endurance' replica alloy tank was fitted along with our own SRC single race seat.

The rear of the 'Tonti' frame was shortened and a custom battery tray fabricated with small but intensely bright LED projector indicators mounted in the frame tube ends.

An LED 'cats eye' rear light / number plate holder with concealed wiring completes the rear end.

Billet alloy clip-ons and custom Rear Sets give the correct stance and the fully adjustable remote gas reservoir rear shocks and upgraded forks ensures stable handling.

The original Borrani alloy rims were re-furbished and laced with new stainless spokes and shod with modern sticky rubber.

Deep black gloss paintwork and polished alloy with some subtle white pinstriping complete the classic look.

It's a visual and aural delight, and rides pretty good too!

I'm sure David must have a difficult decision to make everytime he opens his garage door. The Cafe Racer or the Scrambler, hmmmm which one today?
